21 Pounds Of Pot: Cary Man Pleads Guilty, Sentenced To 4 Years
Prosecutors said a more serious charge was dropped because he pleaded guilty and had a clean record.

CARY, IL — A Cary man who was arrested Friday, Nov. 3, with three guns, cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms and 21 pounds of marijuana was sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday, Nov. 9. The sentenced was reduced after a more serious charge was dropped.
Mark Priester, 39, of the zero to 100 block of West Frank Avenue, was facing a charge of manufacturing and delivering marijuana which carries a sentence of six to 30 years, the Northwest Herald reported.
But the charge was dropped, prosecutors say, because he had a clean past record and because he pleaded guilty to the less serious charge of possessing the pot.

“Four years is still a pretty stiff sentence,” said Assistant State’s Attorney John Gibbons, according to the Herald.
Alongside the drug possession, Priester was in possession of three firearms despite the fact that his firearm owner's identification card had been revoked.

Since he pleaded guilty to possession of the marijuana, all of his other charges, including the gun charges, were dropped.
