Cary Police to Issue Tickets for Treats to Children Wearing Helmets This Summer
A local pediatrician collected donations from local businesses to help make the initiative possible.

CARY, IL - The Cary Police Department has joined forces with several local businesses to offer vouchers for treats to children spotted wearing helmets and other protective gear while they are out and about this summer.
Dr. Margaret "Maggie" Stefani from Pediatric Associations in Barrington received donations from Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Breaking Bread, Kojaks and Culvers to help make the initiative possible, according to a press release from the Cary Police Department. The businesses provided vouchers for free ice cream cones (Dairy Queen and McDonalds), French fries (Breaking Bread), a milkshake (Kojaks), and custard (Culvers).
Those vouchers will be handed out by Cary Police Department patrol officers who spot children, ages 13 years and younger, wearing helmets and other protective gear while riding their bikes and scooters and while roller-blading and roller-skating this summer. The initiative began on June 1.
