Cary Volleyball Falls In State Championship Match
Trojans lose in three games to Lyons to break 57-match winning streak

Lyons (41-1) would go on to a 22-18 lead and Cary came back to win the next three points but could not tie the game up as the Lyons won the opening game and ended Cary's streak of winning games at 69.
In the second game, Lyons took a 13-12 lead before Cary got a scoring run together, scoring seven straight points and didn't let the lead get away to even the match. The final game started rough for both teams before Lyons took a 10-8 lead.

Cary scored the next three points to retake the lead but Lyons scored eight of the next ten points to gain an 18-13 lead and increased their lead to 22-18.
The Trojans rallied again to get back to 23-22 but could not get any closer. Kelly Lamberti had 21 kills and 12 digs in her final high school match while Sam Mainzer had 19 digs and Melanie Jereb had 11 digs.
