Cary Woman Sentenced For Aggravated DUI: Prosecutors

Prosecutors said her blood alcohol concentration was .387, which is over four times the legal limit.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- A 53-year-old Cary woman had a blood alcohol concentration of .387, more than four times the legal limit, when she drove drunk in September 2017. Claudia Peters has been convicted on two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and sentenced to 5.5 years in prison, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office. The charges came after Peters was pulled over in April 2017 when a witness called police to say Peters was driving erratically, according to prosecutors.

Following an investigation, Peters was arrested for driving under the influence.

In September 2017, Peters was stopped by an officer with the McHenry County Conservation District after the officer observed numerous traffic violations, prosecutors said. Following an investigation, Peters was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

Peters consented to a blood draw and testing revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .387, more than 4 times the legal limit, according to the news release.

An investigation into Peter’s background revealed that she has been convicted of three prior violations for driving under the influence, according to authorities.
