City: Avoid Traveling on Route 14 on Monday
A widening project will enter the final stage of traffic staging and delays are expected during lane shifting planned for Monday.

The city of Crystal Lake posted the following update on the Route 14 widening project on its Facebook page:
On Monday July 25, 2016, the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Route 14 widening project will enter the final phase of traffic staging.
If possible, avoid traveling Route 14 on Monday as there will be delays during the lane shifting. The traffic for both directions will be shifted to the far outside portions of the road. This will allow construction crews to work on the medians and center lanes of the improvement. This is the final construction traffic switch before the construction is complete and all lanes will be open to traffic. The project is still on schedule for a Fall 2016 completion.
Drivers are reminded that the project is still an active construction zone. Please be alert for construction workers, observe the work zone speed limits, and do not use cell phones in the construction zone. IDOT and the City of Crystal Lake appreciate the public’s patience during this construction.
