City Honors ‘Art On Fire’ Hydrant Design Contest Winners

The Geneva City Council recently recognized the talented artists who showcased their creativity in the city’s “Art on Fire” hydrant design competition this year, according to a news release.

Kassidy Keenehan won first place for her “Thomas the Train” hydrant located in front of Duke and Lees Service, 609 S. Third St. Tom Sheridan’s “Go Cubs” hydrant at 940 Lewis Place and Julian Hipp’s Sunny Day at Western Avenue School earned second and third place honors respectively.

The city of Geneva, in collaboration with the Cultural Arts Commission, has sought artists to adopt and paint fire hydrants throughout the community. More than 70 hydrants have been painted the past four years as part of “Art on Fire,” and the program has been well received by residents and visitors who have taken notice of the artwork in the downtown and surrounding areas.
