CL South Teen Competes for Spot on Team USA in Judo
Michael Golden has been practicing judo since he was 11 years old, according to the Northwest Herald.

Michael Golden, a 17-year-old Crystal Lake South student, has earned a trip to Buenos Aires, Aregentina from July 11 to 14 to compete in the 2013 Pan American Junior Championship for a spot on Team USA in judo, according to the Northwest Herald.
Golden, who has been practicing judo since he was 11 years old, is ranked second in the United States in his weight class, which is 73 kilograms, and recently earned a first-degree black belt in judo, according to the article.
Golden is accepting donations to help fund his trip. So far, $665 of the $3,505 goal has been raised, according to Golden's donation website.

"As you might expect this is a very expensive trip," Golden wrote on the donation website. "The reward of being a competitor for the USA and competing to bring back a Gold medal is a huge honor and a chance of a lifetime."
