Clear The Shelters Day Is This Week In McHenry Co.

Adoption fees will be waived during the event this Saturday.

CRYSTAL LAKE-CARY, IL - From McHenry County Animal Control and Adoption Center: McHenry County Animal Control and Adoption Center (MCAC) will participate in the third annual “Clearthe Shelters” Day on Saturday, August 19 by waiving the adoption fee for all adoptable cats and dogs over 6 months of agefrom 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

MCAC joins hundreds of shelters in 20 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico as part of this one-day adoption drive. “We are proud to be part of this nationwide initiative. Adopted pets go to new owners spayed or neutered, micro chipped, and vaccinated with age appropriate vaccines, including the rabies shot. We ask adopters to make a donation of their choice.” said Maryellen Howell, Manager of McHenry County Animal Control & Adoption Center.

In 2016 “Clear the Shelters Day” led to over 54,000 pets going home with new families. Since the event’s inception in 2015 that number climbs to over 73,000. The MCAC goal this year for “Clear the Shelters Day” is to “clear the shelter” and find homes for all of the adoptable animals at the Center. MCAC hopes you will help them clear their shelter again this year!
