Coroner IDs Elderly Man Killed In Crash Near Woodstock

The collision happened Thursday. The 88-year-old man from Kenosha, Wisconsin, has been identified as James Settle.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified an 88-year-old Kenosha man killed in a two-vehicle crash near Woodstock as James Settle

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Settle died from traumatic cardiac arrhythmia and blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen following the Thursday collision, according to a coroner's office news release.

The crash happened at about 7:40 a.m. Thursday when a 2000 Lincoln Town Car, which was headed west on Charles Road, lost control and hit an eastbound 2014 Hyundai head-on, according to authorities. Settle, who was driving the Lincoln, was taken to Northwest Hospital and later pronounced dead.

A 46-year-old Machesney Park man, who was driving the Hyundai, sustained minor injures in the collision. He was treated and released from an area hospital.

Both men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
