Coroner IDs Man, 52, Killed In Condo Fire

Firefighters rescued the man from the blaze in Fox Lake on Monday morning. He later died at the hospital, officials said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified a 52-year-old Fox Lake man who died in a house fire.

Jason Binzel was pronounced dead at Northwestern Hospital in McHenry, according to the coroner's office.

Fire crews responded to the blaze in the 0 to 100 block of St. Thomas Colony Street at about 7 a.m. Monday and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the man's corner unit and pulled him out before extinguishing the blaze, according to the Daily Herald.

The coroner's office is not releasing any preliminary findings following an autopsy, which was performed on Tuesday.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
