Coroner IDs Teen Killed in I-90 Crash

An 18-year-old man and a female were killed in the crash near Marengo on Interstate 90.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office has identified a teen killed in a crash Tuesday evening on I-90 near Marengo as Demonte Wigfall, 18, of Godfrey, Ill.

The crash also killed another passenger in the car -- a female who has not yet been identified.

The crash occurred when a car was heading east on I-90 at mile marker 34 3/4 at 6:04 p.m. The car lost control, spun out, struck and bounced off a concrete median wall before hitting a semi-truck/tractor with a trailer, according to a coroner’s office press release.

An autopsy revealed Wigfall died from multiple blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle collision. A female in the vehicle was taken to St. Anthony in Rockford where she was later pronounced dead. Two others in the car were taken to the hospital and were in stable condition, according to the news release.

The crash remains under investigation by Illinois State Police.
