The Cottage To Run Concessions At Three Oaks This Summer
The popular downtown Crystal Lake restaurant won the bid to serve food at the Three Oaks beach concession stand.

The Cottage, a popular downtown Crystal Lake restaurant, will replace Culver's as the food provider at Three Oaks Recreation Area this summer. The Crystal Lake City Council this past week approved a bid from The Cottage. The business will run the concession stand at the beach at Three Oaks for the next five years, according to a post on The Cottage Facebook page.
The Cottage on the Beach will open over Memorial Day weekend when Three Oaks opens its beach.

The city council used a a ranking system to pick from the applicants submitting bids to take over the concession stand at Three Oaks. The Northwest Herald reports:
With a ranking system that evaluated the applicants based on experience, quality of food, pricing, proposed compensation and efficiency of services, The Cottage was rated first in all but one category. Jersey Mike’s was in second place, followed by La Michoacana, Galloway’s Subs, Breaking Bread and Smoothology.
In 2018 and 2019, The Cottage will pay 8.5 percentof its sales to the city as a type of rent for using its space. Between 2020 and 2022, The Cottage will be obligated to pay 9 percent of its sales to the city, according to the Northwest Herald.

Last March, Duke's Alehouse, another popular downtown Crystal Lake restaurant, announced it would be opening at the wakeboarding park at Three Oaks. Dukes on the Water had its first summer season at Three Oaks in 2017.
