Crystal Lake Looks At Adding Roundabouts
The city is exploring the addition of roundabouts at several intersections in town.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Crystal Lake is exploring adding roundabouts at several intersections in town. In the past week, city officials held an open house on the installation of roundabouts, which they hope will "calm traffic, reduce speeds and help to reduce emissions."
The city is weighing the pros and cons of installing roundabouts at the following intersections:
- Congress Parkway and Exchange Drive
- Congress Parkway and Federal Drive
- Golf Course Road/Waterford Cut/Concord Drive
- Golf Course Road and Alexandra Boulevard
- Golf Course Road and Village Road
- Crystal Lake Avenue/Walkup Avenue/Grant Street
- Three Oaks Road/Lutter Drive/Sands Road
Last week, city officials held an open house on the topic of roundabouts in town. Several residents have also taken to the city's Facebook page to express their thoughts on roundabouts.

"They work amazing as long as everyone understands how to proceed through them correctly," one local resident wrote. Others were not as positive regarding the possible addition calling roundabouts a "waste of money."
Others urged the city to look at adding the roundabouts at different intersections in town and many said the roundabouts were not needed on Golf Course Road.
