Update: Crystal Lake Man in Critical Condition After Fall
A 51-year old man sustained traumatic injuries after a fall in his home.
Update, Saturday, 8:39 a.m.
A 51-year old Crystal Lake man was airlifted to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville after sustaining injuries in a fall in his Fox Court home Aug. 26, and is in critical condition.
Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Paul DeRaedt said the call came in at about noon. An ambulance and fire engine were sent to the scene where paramedics determined the man required transport to a Level 1 trauma center.

Prairie Ridge High School’s soccer field was utilized for a Flight for Life helicopter as it is a secure landing zone, he said.
Initial care was provided for the man at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to the landing zone where a shift commander, a safety officer and another engine were on the scene to assist with the landing zone set-up.

DeRaedt said the man fell from a ladder he had climbed to the attic in his garage, about 8 to 10-feet to the ground, sustaining traumatic injuries. Paramedics secured the man at the scene for transport to the Flight for Life helicopter under the assumption he had possible spinal injuries.
He is listed in critical condition at Condell as of 4:37 p.m., Friday.
The man’s name is being withheld until the family can be notified by authorities.

DeRaedt hadn’t had a chance to get details from the crew when contacted by Crystal Lake Patch at 1:20 p.m. At that time he did not know what type of injuries the man sustained, how or how far he fell at his home or his age.
