Crystal Lake Man Charged With Drug-Induced Homicide

Keith L. Lang has been arrested in connection with the death of a 23-year-old man near McHenry last September.

A 30-year-old Crystal Lake man has been charged with drug-induced homicide following the overdose death of a 23-year-old man last September, police said Thursday. The 23-year-old died on Sept. 22, 2017 after he allegedly injected a heroin/fentanyl mix at a home in the 3100 block of Bull Valley Road in unincorporated McHenry, authorities determined during an eight-month investigation. Following the probe, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Lang on the drug-induced homicide charge and on Wednesday, arrested Keith L. Lang at his home in the 600 block of Savannah Lane in Crystal Lake, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release.

While arresting Lang, detectives allegedly spotted a firearm and ammunition, according to the news release. Authorities obtained a search warrant, and while searching the residence, found three firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition in various calibers, heroin/fentanyl residue, packaging materials, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, and multiple hypodermic syringes, police said.

Lang has been charged with drug induced-homicide, a Class X felony; three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by felony, a class 3 felony; and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony. His bond has been set at $500,000 and he remained in custody Thursday afternoon.

Lang is next expected in court on June 25.
