Crystal Lake Man Hospitalized In Crash, Charged With DUI: Police

Lothar Wagner sustained serious injuries in a weekend motorcycle accident in which police determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A 60-year-old Crystal Lake man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a motorcycle accident over the weekend that also involved him being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Lothar Wagner was airfifted to Condell Hospital in Libertyville following the accident, which took place at 5:29 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of Fair Oaks Lane near Elmwood Ave. Police said Wagner was driving a 1994 Honda motorcycle heading East on Fair Oaks Lane when, for some reason, he lost control of the motorcycle, which turned on its side.

Wagner was taken by ambulance to Northwestern McHenry Hospital before he was flown by helicopter to Libertyville. As a result of an investigation, Wagner was later charged with one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The investigation, which remains active, caused the roadway to be closed for 2 ½ hours.
