Crystal Lake Man to Serve 5 Years in Prison for Bar Fight

Austin Hobday was sentenced Friday to serve five years in prison.

Crystal Lake resident Austin R. Hobday, 32, on Friday was sentenced to serve five years in prison by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather, the Northwest Herald reports.

Hobday, of 1332 Beach St., was arrested in October 2011 following a bar fight at Kief's Reef, 3505 N. Wright Rd., McHenry. During an verbal dispute, he broke a pint glass and stabbed a 29-year-old man in the neck with the jagged edges, according to a Patch article.

Hobday pleaded guilty to aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, in February, the Herald reports. The victim testified he needed surgery after the attack and a part of his face is paralyzed as a result, according to the Northwest Herald.
