Crystal Lake Police Arrest Man On Child Porn Charges

Anthony T. Franklin was arrested Friday morning.

A 37-year-old Crystal Lake man has been arrested for possessing child pornography. The Crystal Lake Police Department with the assistance of the Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Unit and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a search of 590 Somerset Lane, Unit 3, in Crystal Lake, at about 6 a.m. on Friday following an investigation into unlawful possession of child pornography, according to a news release. Anthony T. Franklin, 37, was arrested following the search and charged with three counts of unlawful possession of child pornography, a Class X felony; unlawful possession of child pornography, a Class 1 felony; four counts of unlawful possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony; and three counts of unlawful possession of child pornography, a Class 3 felony, according to a news release.

The matter initially came to the attention of the Crystal Lake Police Department through the ICAC Task Force. The Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit conducted the investigation, which culminated in the issuance of a search of Franklin's home.

Franklin remains in custody on a $200,000 bail. He is next in court on Tuesday.
