Crystal Lake Teacher Gets $1,500 Tip While Bartending at Elgin Restaurant
A generous customer left a $500 tip on one tab and a $1,000 tip on another tab.

ELGIN, IL - A suburban teacher got a huge surprise while recently bartending for Nick’s Pizza & Pub in Elgin.
Nicole, a teacher in Crystal Lake, was waiting on a friend and her friend’s boss when the boss, who paid for their tab and the tab of the couple sitting next to them, added on a $500 tip, according to the Daily Herald. And, he didn’t stop there. Once he learned Nicole’s father was dining at the restaurant, he paid for her dad’s $36 tab and added on a $1,000 tip.
"I said, 'I can't take this. Oh my Gosh. No.' But he said, 'Don't argue with me,' and gave me the same kind of spiel about working hard," Nicole told the Daily Herald. "I teared up, absolutely. Then the rest of the day I felt weird -- excited and happy, but like, 'What the heck just happened?'"
