From District 155: The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) selected Michelle Ponsolle-Mays to receive the Jeannette Bair Writer’s Award at its national conference on April 6.

Mays co-authored the article, “Enriching kids’ lives: Addressing the effects of poverty on the health and well-being of school-aged children and their families.” The article appeared in the issue of OT Practice on May 21, 2018.

“It is exciting that the AOTA is recognizing the important work that is being done with children and youth,” said Michelle Ponsolle-Mays. “This article describes how OTs can provide system-level support in schools, notably by designing programs and environments that build student resilience and moderate the effects of adverse experiences.”
