Drug Dealer Charged In Overdose Death: Police
A 30-year-old Crystal Lake man is accused of providing the drugs that lead to the death of a 40-year-old McHenry man this past summer.

MCHENRY, IL -- A 30-year-old accused drug dealer has been arrested and charged with drug-induced homicide for delivering the opioids that lead to a 40-year-old man's death, authorities said Friday. Derrick J. Buttrum, of the 300 block of West Van Buren Street in Crystal Lake, is accused of delivering the drugs to Richard T. Hyde of McHenry prior to him overdosing on June 28, 2018. First responders found Hyde unresponsive in the 4300 block of West Main Street on that date.
They administered Naloxone and performed CPR on Hyde but the life-saving measures did not work, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.
Autopsy results showed Hyde died from an overdose due to the combined adverse effect of alprazolam, oxycodone and fentanyl, according to authorities.
