Elderly Man’s Finger Amputated After Attack: Police

A Crystal Lake man now faces charges in connection with the Friday attack, police said.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- A 35-year-old Crystal Lake man faces charges after he allegedly pushed an elderly man and then kicked him in the right hand on Friday evening. The kick to the man’s hand caused serious injuries and required the amputation of part of his pinkie finger, the Northwest Herald is reporting. Mark Martinez, of the 2700 block of Jenny Jae Lane, was arrested for allegations he attacked the elderly man who he knew, police said.

Martinez is charged with aggravated battery of a person older than age 60 and domestic battery.

His bail has been set at $20,000.
