Elderly Man Seriously Injured While Biking In Crystal Lake: Police
The incident remains under investigation.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- An elderly man was seriously injured after he was reportedly struck by a car while biking in Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon, police said. Authorities were called to the area of Main Street and Walkup Extension at about 2:10 p.m. where they found the man, who is in his 70s, on the roadway, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department.
Rescue workers immediately began administering first aid and the victim, who was unconscious at the scene, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Authorities are not certain at this point how the elderly man sustained his injuries. Initial reports indicate the victim was struck by a car. However, police could not "confirm the information provided as being accurate," authorities said.

Witnesses reported seeing a small, silver sedan, driven by a white male wearing a neon-colored shirt, in the immediate area after the bicyclist was discovered unconscious on the road, according to the news release. This sedan left prior to police arrival.
Southbound Main Street was closed for about 1.5 hours following the crash, which remains under investigation, police said.
