Former McHenry Man Gets Probation For Licking Girl's Face
The 51-year-old man suffered a traumatic brain injury that impacts his impulse control, his attorney said.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A former McHenry man who was originally charged with aggravated criminal sex abuse was convicted Wednesday on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. James J. Barnard, 51, of Round Lake Beach, was sentenced to 1 1/2 years of probation after a McHenry County judge took into consideration Barnard's limited criminal history and a brain injury he suffered during a 2013 crash, the Northwest Herald is reporting.
Barnard, who formerly lived in the 1800 block of Kerry Lane in McHenry, was arrested in January 2018 after allegations surfaced regarding him licking and inappropriately touching an 11-year-old relative, according to the news report.
Henry Sugden, Barnard's attorney, said letters of evaluation from Barnard's doctors show he experienced a drop in impulse control and a higher sex drive after experiencing his traumatic brain injury. The alleged abuse occurred during three different instances in November 2017, according to the Northwest Herald.
