MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 70-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a former student during music lessons at the Dole Mansion in 2015, authorities said. Kenneth Kang of Palatine was sentenced to three years in prison after a jury found him guilty on 10 counts of criminal sexual assault.

In 2019, a college student who was home on break reported she was sexually assaulted by her music teacher weekly between September and December of 2015. During her lessons, she said Kang—the former music teacher—would put his hands down her pants and touch her inappropriately, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

The woman was 14 years old at the time of the assault, authorities said.
