Former Youth Baseball Coach Gets Time Served for Failing to Register as Sex Offender
Marcus Sabo was sentenced in McHenry County on Thursday.

A 44-year-old former youth baseball coach in Crystal Lake, who was convicted in 2014 on child porn charges, was sentenced to time served after he failed to register as a sex offender, according to the Northwest Herald.
Marcus J. Sabo entered a blind guilty plea to a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony, in McHenry County in December.
Sabo will receive credit for 86 days served in jail under his sentence handed down Thursday by Judge Sharon Prather, according t the Northwest Herald.

At the time of his arrest in 2013, Sabo coached 15-year-old boys on the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth Baseball League organization and served on the McHenry County Youth Sports Association Summer International Championships (MCYSA). His family has a long volunteer history with the league.
Sabo was barred from coaching for the league upon his arrest. He was convicted in 2014 on 20 counts of possession of child pornography and sentenced to two years in prison. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

A warrant was issued for Sabo’s arrest after he allegedly did not have a fixed address and did not report it to police between Feb. 20, 2015 and March 24, 2015, according to the Northwest Herald. He was arrested on charges that he failed to comply with the sex offender registry in September 2015.
