Fundraisers Set Up Following Crystal Lake Double Homicide

Ryan C. Garber is accused of shooting and killing his wife, Allania Garber, and Allania's teenage sister Thursday in Crystal Lake.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- While few new details are being released into the double murder of a Crystal Lake mom and her teenage sister, family members and friends are stepping up to help the family. Allania Yarber, 31, and her 15-year-old sister, whose name has not been released, were allegedly gunned down by Allania's husband, Ryan C. Yarber, inside the couple's Crystal Lake home on Thursday. Since then, two GoFundMe pages have been set up to help raise funds for living and funeral expenses.

The first GoFundMe page, set up by a sister of Allania and the 15-year-old girl killed in the double homicide, has raised just over $2,000 as of Tuesday afternoon. The fundrasier help family members set up a college fund for the couple's young boys, ages 6 and 9, and pay for future counseling, medical expenses and living needs for the children.

"His (Ryan Yarber's) selfish actions have left Allania's two little boys motherless and fatherless and without one of their favorite aunties. I'm reaching out to the kind people who are still left in this world to help my family and I raise these boys without struggle," Arriana Reynolds of Crystal Lake wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Another relative, Janice Reynolds, of Springfield, Oreg., set up a GoFundMe page to help Allania and her youngest sister's parents pay for their funeral expenses. As of Tuesday afternoon, over $6,700 has been raised for that fundraiser.

"Please allow your compassion to lead you to donate to this family as they prepare to bury their oldest and youngest daughter taken in a vicious and indescribable way," according to the GoFundMe page. "They were executed by the one they trusted."

Meanwhile, Ryan Yarber remained in custody at the McHenry County Jail on a $5 million bond. Police said both Allania and her 15-year-old sister were shot multiple times inside Ryan and Allania's home in the 100 block of Marian Parkway Thursday.

As of early this week, police were not releasing many more details into the killings. The Northwest Herald reported Monday:

Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Tom Kotlowski said he would not release any further information about the case when asked whether the gun found at the scene was registered, whether police were called to the home before this incident, and whether Yarber had any previous arrests for domestic violence in Illinois or Oregon, where he lived before moving to Crystal Lake.

Yarber appeared briefly in court on Tuesday, the Daily Herald reports. He could face life in prison if convicted in the fatal shootings.

A public defender is representing Yarber. In court documents, Yarber indicated he owed money on a car loan and credit cards -- many of which were "maxed out," the Northwest Herald reports.

The Daily Herald reports Yarber had a take home pay of $410 per week. His family members helped him cover the $1,600 mortgage for his Crystal Lake home.
