Garage Fire Causes $10K In Damage
The homeowners of the Lakewood home say they heard what sounded like an explosion before finding the blaze.
LAKEWOOD, IL — The owners of a home in Lakewood said they heard what sounded like an explosion in their garage before discovering a fire there as well a short time later, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.
The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was called to the home in the 200 block of Richmond Lane in Lakewood at about 4:50 p.m. where they found smoke coming from the area of the garage of a two-story, single-family home.

The blaze caused an estimated $10,000 in damage. No one was injured in the blaze, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants in their fire recovery.
