Girl, 15, Dies Following Crash Near Woodstock
The one-vehicle collision happened in the 10500 block of Charles Road in unincorporated Woodstock on Monday afternoon.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 15-year-old Harvard girl who was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash near Woodstock Monday afternoon has died, authorities said Thursday. The girl, whose name is not yet being released, was initially flown to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee and was pronounced dead on Wednesday.
The collision occurred when a 2006 Mitsubishi Raider that was headed east in the 10500 block of Charles Road in unincorporated Woodstock attempted to pass several cars and then drove off the roadway, hitting a utility pole, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The Harvard girl was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in Woodstock where she was treated and released.

Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash. It is unclear if the driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to the news release.
The area where the crash occurred was closed for about five hours.

The collision remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
