Home Uninhabitable Following Crystal Lake Fire
A blaze at a home in the 1500 block of Candlewood Drive in Crystal Lake caused extensive smoke damage. No one was injured.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A Crystal Lake home is uninhabitable following a house fire Thursday evening, fire officials said. The blaze broke out at 5:15 p.m. in a second floor bedroom in the 1500 block of Candlewood Drive in Crystal Lake, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.
No one was injured in the fire, and the two people inside the home at the time of the blaze were able to safely get out before fire crews arrived. The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes, according to fire officials.
The fire caused extensive smoke and water damage and about $80,000 in damages to structure. The American Red Cross will be assisting the family with shelter and other needs, and the cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation by Crystal Lake fire investigators.
