Homeless Man Arrested For Home Burglary in Cary

CARY, IL — A homeless man is in custody after he entered a home in Cary and implied he had a gun after he was confronted by the home's owner, police said. Thomas Freeman has been charged with residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, following his arrest Thursday.

Police were called to the home in the 200 block of South Spring Street in Cary about 11 a.m. The man, police said, had fled on foot by the time they arrived.

Police found him close to the home but did not find a gun on him or in the immediate area, according to a news release from the Cary Police Department.

Freeman did sustain a minor injury while fleeing from the home and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He was then taken to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock.

Following the incident, the Cary Police Department is reminding residents to report suspicious activity by calling 911.
