Husband Dies Days After Wife Killed In Motorcycle Crash: Coroner

Both Joseph and Laura Siano, of Northbrook, died from injuries sustained in a July 18 crash near Wauconda.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A second person has died following a motorcycle crash that happened on July 18 near Wauconda.

Joseph Siano, 69, of Northbrook, died at Advocate Condell Medical Center on Saturday just days after his wife, Laura Siano, 63, was pronounced dead at the same hospital, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office news release.

Both were critically injured in a collision on Route 12 at Lake Shore Drive in unincorporated Wauconda at around 1 p.m. on July 18.

Their Harley-Davidson Try Glide Ultra Classic motorcycle headed south on Route 12 collided with a Ford Escort, which was stopped in the inside lane of southbound Route 12 due to a mechanical issues.

The motorcycle rolled over several times and both the driver, who was later identified as Joseph Siano, and a passenger, who was identified as Laura Siano, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Both were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, and Laura Siano was pronounced dead the next day. Joseph Siano was pronounced dead on Saturday.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show both died from blunt force injuries, according to authorities.

The driver of the Ford, a 65-year-0ld Downers Grove woman, and her passenger, a 67-year-old Naperville woman, were not injured.
