Investigation Underway In Crystal Lake Jewelry Store Robbery

The robbery happened Saturday afternoon at Dalzell Jewelers in Crystal Lake.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – Authorities are searching for a robber accused stealing from a jewelry store in downtown Crystal Lake, striking an employee and getting away with diamond jewelry, police said. Police were called to Dalzell Jewelers, 41 North Williams Street, at about 3:05 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses to the robbery told police a black male entered the store and asked to view specific jewelry, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

While being shown the jewelry, the man removed two trays of diamond jewelry and then fled the store, according to police. While fleeing from the business, the robber struck one of the employees with his hand.

The robber did not display or imply that he had weapon and the employee who was hit refused any medical attention at the scene, according to police.

The robber got into a grey or silver four-door Pontiac, which was driven by another black male. The vehicle was last seen driving north on an alley toward Woodstock Street.

The man who stole the jewelry and battered the Dalzell employee is described as being in his 20s. He had medium build and was about 6-feet 1-inch tall and was wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering, which witnesses said appeared to spell out "Hoops"; grey sweatpants; and white athletic shoes.

The driver of the car is described as being a black male.

A cost estimate for the jewelry that was stolen is not yet available.
