Island Lake Woman Found Guilty Of Non-Consensual Dissemination Of Private Sexual Images

The McHenry County State's Attorney found Bethany Austin guilty April 26 after three days of trial.

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Bethany Austin, 43, of Island Lake, was found guilty of Non-Consensual Dissemination of Private Sexual Images on April 26, 2021, by Honorable Judge Michael Coppedge after three afternoons of trial.

Austin was charged with Non-Consensual Dissemination of Private Sexual Images occurring on or about August 26, 2016. Evidence at trial revealed that Bethany Austin sent a letter, a copy of text messages, and intimate photographs of another woman to a friend of her ex-fiancée. The evidence also showed that Bethany Austin sent the letter, text messages, and photographs in an effort to expose her ex-fiancée’s infidelity during their relationship.
