Jogger Attacked At Park In Cary: Police

Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man accused of attacking a jogger Monday afternoon.

CARY, IL — Police in Cary are asking for the public's help as they try to track down a man accused of attacking a runner on Monday afternoon near Hoffman Park. A female was jogging on a path in the park near the intersection of West Main Street and Jefferson Lane at about 4:20 p.m. when a man signaled for her to stop running, according to a news release from the police department.

When she took her headphones out of her ears and attempted to talk to the man, he put both of his hands on her jacket below her neck, authorities said. The woman pushed the man away from her and fled the area.

The man is described as being of East Indian descent and was wearing a blue turban and carrying a stick that was between 18 and 24 inches long. He is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and between 35 and 40 years old.

As of Wednesday, the Cary Police Department is still working to identify the man and is asking for the public's help in identifying him. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Cary Police Department at 847-639-2341.

In addition, the Cary Police Department is reminding residents to remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious people and activity immediately by calling 911.
