Knife-Wielding Man Slashes 2 Near Richmond: Police

The 32-year-old Des Plaines man is charged with attempted murder and bail has been set at $5 million.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A 32-year-old Des Plaines man faces an attempted murder charge for wielding a knife and slashing two victims during a domestic disturbance near Richmond Saturday evening, police said. Bail has been set at $5 million for Miguel A. Hernandez-Solorzano who is also charged with burglary. Authorities were called to a home in the 5200 block of Route 173 at about 6:49 p.m. on Oct. 7 for a report of a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived, deputies found two wounded victims inside the home and Hernandez-Solorzano outside the residence. He had been detained by other family members.

Neither victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed Hernandez-Solorzano had been hiding in a barn when he saw one of the victims come out of the barn with a knife. He then slashed the victim in the back, police said.

The second victim attempted to stop Hernandez-Solorzano from harming the first victim. At this point
Hernandez-Solorzano, attacked that victim and a fight followed between the two victims and Hernandez-Solorzano, police said.

The first victim was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was transported Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life threatening injuries.

Hernandez-Solorzano was treated on the scene for facial injuries and was taken into custody.

He is next expected in court on Oct. 11.
