Longtime Crystal Lake Resident Wins Big in Illinois Lottery
Michael Wirsing won $300,000 in the Illinois Lottery. He and his wife, Pat, plan to invest the windfall for their retirement.
Michael Wirsing of Crystal Lake has won $300,000 in the Illinois Lottery, lottery officials announced Thursday.
Wirsing, who has lived in Crystal Lake for 16 years, won the jackpot prize when his Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers in a Saturday, Sept. 10, drawing, according to an Illinois Lottery news release.
He and his wife, Pat, plan to invest the windfall for retirement.

He bought his winning ticket at Circle K, 280 N. Illinois Route 31, in Crystal Lake.
“I have been playing Lucky Day Lotto for a couple of months. I always buy a Quick Pick, and always at this store,” Wirsing said.

Circle K received a bonus of $3,000, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
