Longtime Lakewood Resident Wins $550,000 Lottery Prize
The local man plans to use his winnings to buy a new house for his family and save for his retirement.

One lucky Lakewood resident is the winner of a $550,000 lottery prize.
John Tyrell won the jackpot prize when his Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers in an April 11 mid-day drawing, according to an Illinois Lottery press release. Tyrell plans to use his winnings to buy a new house and invest for his retirement.
Tyrrell, 58, works in the packaging distribution business. He is married with three children and has lived in Lakewood for 20 years.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K, 355 Randall Road in South Elgin. The retailer received a bonus of $5,500, one percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
