Man Arrested for Posing as Chiropractor, Telling Woman to ‘Go to Sleep’

Claude A. Quisenberry was arrested Wednesday in connection with the suspicious incident that occurred last week in Cary.

Cary police have arrested a 66-year-old Elgin man who allegedly posed as a chiropractor before he covered a woman’s mouth and told her to “go to sleep” during an incident at a Cary business last week, authorities said Thursday.

Claude A. Quisenberry has been charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct in connection with the Feb. 16 incident. Information was developed during the police department's investigation into the case that lead to Quisenberry's arrest on Wednesday, according to a news release.

The victim in the case told police a man entered a business on West Main Street in Cary at about 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 16 and inquired about nearby vacant businesses. During their discussion, the suspect stated he was a chiropractor, police said.

He then offered to evaluate the victim and she accepted. During the evaluation, the man covered the victim’s mouth from behind with his hand and asked her to “go to sleep,” according to a news release.

The woman was able to free herself and asked the man to leave, which he did, according to police.

The suspect was last seen by the victim walking across the street to the Harris Bank, 122 West Main Street in Cary, where he got into a vehicle and drove away from the scene. Police were able to obtain photos of the alleged suspect and his vehicle, which was shared with media outlets following the incident.

Quisenberry was released Wednesday after posting his $250 bail. He is next expected in court on March 6.
