Man Charged After Firing Gun Off Inside, Outside Crystal Lake Home: Police

The man fired off the gun when officers responded to a domestic incident early Monday.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - A 25-year-old man faces charges after police said he opened fire inside and outside a Crystal Lake home during a domestic incident early Monday.

Cody D. Bingham, of Rogersville, Tenn., is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a class one felony; criminal damage to property, a class A misdemeanor; and assault, a class C misdemeanor.

The charges stem from a report made to Crystal Lake police at about 12:44 a.m. Monday when officers responded to a domestic violence incident in the 400 block of Westwood Court. When they arrived, a man fired several rounds from a gun both inside and outside of the home before fleeing the scene, according to a press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Officers immediately conducted a search of the surrounding area and located the suspect, who was unarmed, according to the news release. Bingham was taken into custody. Police said the firearm used was located and recovered by officers.

No one was injured in the incident, which remains under investigation.

Bingham remained in custody Monday afternoon and his bail had not yet been set, according to online jail records.
