Man Gets Prison For Sex Assault Of Child

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 59-year-old Island Lake man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a child, prosecutors said. Robert Ballarini will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence.

In July 2018, the Island Lake Police Department received information that a child under the age of 13 years old was being sexually abused. An investigation lead police to Ballarini who they learned had sexually penetrated a child, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

Ballarini was taken into custody and pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sex assault of a child.
