Man Killed When Snowmobile Runs Into Tree: Coroner
The collision happened early Tuesday in Harvard.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 32-year-old Harvard man is dead after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a tree early Tuesday, authorities said. The man has been identified as Brandon J. Shields. The collision occurred in the 4400 block of Pagles Road in Harvard, according to a news release from the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities were called to the scene at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday. Shields was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:19 a.m.
Shields was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to authorities.

An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday to determine cause of death.
The crash remains under investigation by Illinois Conservation Police.
