Man Owes $113K In Child Support: Authorities

The former Crystal Lake man was arrested on a warrant in late December but has since been released from jail.

KANE COUNTY, IL – A former Crystal Lake man who has allegedly not paid child support to his ex-wife in over four years owes over $113,000 in back payments. John E. Cassidy, 51, of the 300 block of Center Street in Itasca, was arrested on an outstanding warrant on Dec. 24. The Northwest Herald reports Cassidy was granted medical furlough by a Kane County judge after spending three days in jail, and was allowed to be released “while he is an inpatient undergoing treatment.”

Once he’s released from the hospital, he will be taken back into custody.

Cassidy owes $113,740.01 in back child support, which stems from a 2000 divorce. He has paid just over $24,000 in child support payments to his ex-wife over the years. Cassidy’s child was 3 years old at the time of the divorce and Cassidy was ordered in July 2001 to pay $780 per month in child support, according to the Northwest Herald.

Cassidy has had multiple warrants issued against him over the years for not paying child support and not showing up in court, according to the Northwest Herald. He’s moved around a lot as well, and has lived at residences in Crystal Lake, Elgin, South Elgin, Hanover Park, Rockford and Elk Grove Village.

Cassidy is expected in court on Wednesday.
