Man Sentenced In Head Stomping Case That Left Man In Coma
The incident happened in McHenry during the early morning hours of New Year's Day.
MCHENRY, IL — A man accused of beating another man outside a McHenry bar on New Year’s Day pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony, and was sentenced to 12 months of probation, according to Shaw Local.
Erik Brzenk, 27, was also sentenced to 63 days in jail, but because he had already spent time in custody awaiting trial, that time was credited toward his sentence, meaning he will not serve additional jail time, according to online court records. Brezenk has also been ordered to pay $356 in restitution and $1,649 in court fees.
According to court documents, the victim was knocked to the ground in a parking lot located in the 1200 block of Green Street, which is located behind several bars in McHenry, and Brzenk stomped on the unconscious man’s head several times, injuring him and leaving a visible shoe imprint on his face, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting.
