Man Shot, Seriously Injured During Home Invasion Near McHenry

This is believed to be an isolated incident and authorities do not believe there is any threat to the public, police said.


MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- A 52-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot during a home invasion early Saturday in the 1800 block of Davis Avenue in unincorporated McHenry, according to the news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. Authorities were called to the home at about 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found the man, who lived at the home, shot and seriously wounded.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and then transported him to a local hospital.

A witness said two men entered the home and shot the man before stealing cash and leaving the area in a small dark-colored pick-up truck, according to police. The assailants were described as one white male and one black male. Both suspects were wearing bandanas over their faces.

At this time the investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the McHenry County Major Investigations Team. This is believed to be an isolated incident authorities do not believe there is any threat to the public.
