Man Who Ran Car Into Church Now Faces Drug Charges

Jonathan K. Jordan was convicted of running his car into Hope Covenant Church in 2015.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – A 22-year-old Huntley man who was convicted of running his car into a Crystal Lake church in 2015 now faces drug charges. Jonathan K. Jordan, of the 10000 block of Cindy Jo Avenue in Huntley, was arrested at about 1:45 a.m. on Thursday by the North Central Narcotics Task Force branch of the Illinois State Police, according to the Northwest Herald.

He is accused of providing 4.6 grams of a powdery white substance that contained cocaine to another person in January, according to the article. Jordan has been charged with manufacturing/delivery of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance. He was released from the McHenry County Jail after posting bond Thursday morning.

In 2015, a car smashed through the wall of Hope Covenant Church, 451 Ackman Road in Crystal Lake, at 8:37 p.m. on Aug. 1. Jordan was later charged with reckless driving after he lost control of his 1999 Toyota Solara, which then smashed into the building, the Northwest Herald reports.

The church was unoccupied at the time of the crash. The driver drove through the parking lot of the church, into the church building, through the nursery, the hallway and into the right side of the sanctuary, according to a Facebook post on the Hope Covenant Church page.
