Reward Offered as Cops Search for Killers in Home Invasion

The men are accused of forcing their way into a home in unincorporated McHenry early Saturday and shooting Donald Jouravleff.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - The manhunt continues for two men accused in a home invasion and the murder of a 52-year-old man in unincorporated McHenry last weekend. On Thursday evening, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office provided a better description of the two men accused of entering the home in the 1800 block of Davis Avenue at about 1 a.m. on May 27. They are also now offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrests of the suspects.

The suspects, they said, stole cash and then shot Donald Jouravleff. Jouravleff, who lived at the home, died the next day at an area hospital.

The McHenry County Coroner's Office ruled his death was caused by complications from a gunshot wound.

The murder and home invasion remain under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team. While authorities have given few new details into the crime, they did release more information into the suspect's appearance with the hopes of tracking down the suspects.

The suspects, police said, were both armed with a black handgun. The first suspect is described as a white man who is short and was wearing dark clothing and a white mask at the time of the home invasion. The second suspect, police said, was a black man who was wearing a "do-rag" and a a neon green bandanna covering his his face. He was also wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, tan shoes and boots.

Also, authorities said a dark-colored pick-up truck and a dark-colored mid-sized SUV, both with loud exhausts, were seen in the area at the time of the incident, according to a Thursday news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The taskforce is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information regarding the incident or the offenders involved is asked to call the McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team Tip Line at 815-363- 2201. A tip or information that leads to the arrest of the offenders will be forwarded to the McHenry County Crime Stoppers for a reward of up to $1,000.

Memorial Service Set for Friday for Jouravleff

Jouravleff's friends and families will say their final farewells during a visitation and memorial service Friday.

Jouravleff was an avid fisherman and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was passionate about his friends and family, according to his obituary. He was a new member of Willow Crystal Lake Community Church.

He is remembered for his energy and enthusiasm for life that "touched everyone who crossed his path," according to his obituary.

Jouravleff's visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St. in Wauconda. A memorial service will follow at 8 p.m.
