McHenry Co. Classroom Gets $25K Makeover
A teacher at the Spring Grove school entered a nationwide contest and was selected as the winner of the classroom makeover.
SPRING GROVE, IL — A McHenry County elementary school revealed a $25,000 classroom makeover awarded to the school as part of the Horace Mann 2025 Back to School Campaign.
The makeover at Lotus Elementary School in Spring Grove included new state-of-the-art furniture and innovative educational materials from Lakeshore Learning designed to enhance creativity, collaboration, and student success, according to a news release from Horace Mann.
The classroom makeover was awarded to Lotus Elementary teacher Kelly Roland, whose sweepstakes entry was randomly selected from thousands of educator entries nationwide.

An official "reveal" of the new classroom took place on Wednesday at the school, 29067 West Grass Lake Road, and included representatives from Horace Mann and Lakeshore Learning, Roland, Lotus Elementary School Principal Matt Peters and other staff and administrators.
