McHenry Conservation District Accepting Christmas Trees For Mulch
Local residents can take their trees to two county locations where the trees will be turned into mulch for area hiking trails, resident use.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — McHenry County residents looking to put their Christmas tree to good use can skip making a trip to a local landfill and instead, take their tree to one of two local drop-off spots being hosted by the McHenry County Conservation District.
Trees may be dropped off at the two locations any time between now and Jan. 16. The trees will be processed into mulch for local hiking trails and will also be made available to the public at a later date.
Trees must be dropped off without tinsel, garland and other decorations. Trees that are transported in a bag should be removed from the bag. The drop-off locations are for residential use only.
