Safari Childcare in McHenry has closed its doors after an investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services revealed several violations, the Northwest Herald reports.

The daycare facility at 2214 W. Route 120 received several complaints over the year with violations leading to the closure centering around class size -- the center cared for more children than the state allows -- and staffing -- facility leaders are accused of failing to properly screen staff, according to the newspaper.

The center is also accused of not properly reporting suspected child abuse or neglect in two different cases and allowing a child who was believed to have scabies to continue in normal daily activities at the daycare, according to the article.

Safari Childcare has 10 locations in Illinois with facilities also located in Cary, Palatine, East Dundee and Mount Prospect.
